Understanding and persistently assisting people in need may not always get you a reward. Despite this, it is good to help people in need, especially if you are in a position to do so. I know this may sound a bit trite, yet it is good to repeat it to emphasize its importance. You can view the video version of this here – https://youtu.be/-6-_mhtxea4)
There is too much emphasis in today’s world on how to become this or that. Of course, it is good to work on ourselves and become our best versions. There are so many courses one can take to become proficient in one area of human endeavour or another. The only problem is when the focus on becoming our better versions does not include how to treat others right or how to be a bit more compassionate. In organizational settings, the stress is on getting results for the organization; the de-emphasized part, that is, staff appreciation/satisfaction, may have more impact in producing better results for the company. So work on yourself and strive to reach for the stars. In your hard work and constant effort to reach your goals, do not forget your humanity in the process.
I know this post may sound cliché, please forgive me. I’m just trying to point out what might be a missing link in our race to the top. This week, take a look around you and ask yourself whether you have allowed yourself, in recent years, the opportunity to help someone in need. Have you deliberately tried to put a smile on someone’s face? If you haven’t done this in a while, try it this week; it can be therapeutic.
Have a good week!
