Every human being is unique. That is why no two human, even twins are alike. There is something different and unique about every person. As our faces are different, so are our attributes, characters and giftings different. These differences are what makes are our world interesting, the varieties in our likes and preferences, the “absurdities” of our tastes, yes, they indeed make up who we are. Who you are, who I am, who the next person is, are what makes our society what it is and fascinating to be part of. (The video version of this can be see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4g0pA72z40)
Your unique attributes are wonderful and you should not shy away from embracing them, and allowing the world to see them. We have been taught to value some giftings more than others, but this is a wrong philosophy. This is why some people erroneously ignore their unique characters to chase after the ones the society considers more dignifying or more rewarding. Who determines what is “dignifying”? You should be the author of your life, defining what you consider dignifying, it should be what makes you fulfilled, what you are passionate about.
Your unique gifting is what makes you you, do not abandon it to chase after other people’s perception of what is better. This is not to say you should not take up challenging roles or opportunities that comes your way because you are not comfortable with them, this is rather saying you should explore your world, but do not abandon your unique self or that which makes you you in a bid to blend in with others.
Being different and being bold to embrace your unique attributes may not come easy, but that is still the best you can ever do for yourself, if you want to live your life at your terms and be truly fulfilled. If you stick to that path you have chosen, though a lonely one, in time you will eventually be ok. Try to be you, that is the best you can ever be.
Remember, an original is always better than a copy, people of value go for the original. Be original, be you, the world around you will eventually adjust to that.
Have a fulfilling week!
