It may be difficult to say the truth in situations where saying such could lead to a disadvantageous outcome. Despite this disadvantage, it is still better to give a true and correct account of what you know, because sometimes in trying to hide the truth, you may end up saying words that can further implicate you or some other person, so why don’t you give the true account of what you know. I know our society has a way of allowing some “lies” or half-truths especially where it doesn’t hurt anyone, be careful to ensure that that half-truth doesn’t hurt anyone eventually. You may be indifferent where the lies, half-truths etc. do not concern or affect you. You may even have an opinion on that matter because it doesn’t affect you. But imagine being in a situation where only the truth can help you and the custodian of this truth refuses to say the truth or says half-truths which may affect you or your cause. At this point, you will value those strict individuals people don’t like because they always say things as they are, or because they are too unbending!
Allowing these negative narratives to determine your worldview or how you respond to things around you will keep you perpetually on the wrong side of history. Dare to be different! It is quite easy to follow the bandwagon, very easy to buy a negative narrative and run with it especially if the society you belong to does not frown at it. Remember, your opinion, your statements, and your actions are very much about you. So only make statements and conduct yourself in a way that you would be proud to defend anytime in the future.
Remember the world may not celebrate you for being different, they may term you as being difficult, but this is fine. Just ensure that you would be proud to defend your action anywhere or anytime in the future.
