How do you move on after a painful, draining and emotionally wrecking experience? This could be a bad relationship, loss of a loved one, health scare etc.

Firstly, come to terms with the fact that bad things can happen to good people. You don’t have to do anything wrong before unplanned disturbing circumstances happen to you. It’s just life, you deal with everything that comes with it.

Secondly, depending on what you are dealing with, do some soul-searching to find out whether you contributed or were a willing participant in whatever you experienced. Said differently, could it be you gave others the opportunity to treat you in that way. If the answer to this is in the positive, then forgive yourself and learn how not to put yourself in such situation again. If you did not contribute to whatever you are dealing with, especially if that is an action from a third party, let that person know you felt hurt by their words or action. If it is something that should be reported to the law enforcement, take it to them and allow them to do their job. If you still value that relationship, you may decide to forgive that person and move on with your life or forgive that person and continue the relationship. It all depends on you.

Finally, if you have done all that is required of you, including some soul-searching activities, and still cannot move on, look for a community of like-minded people that are dealing with what you are experiencing (or have experienced) and draw support from each other. Dealing with loss of any type can be scary and depressing, so draw support from others; for loss of relationships or other hurtful experiences of such nature, dust yourself up and take each day at a time, trust me, you will be fine.

Have a blessed week!
