Play Your Part

beauty, young, a pair

Sometimes or rather most times, everyone is excited to receive something, be it a gift, good news, promotion, business deals etc. People are naturally more inclined to be Receivers than Givers, and there is nothing wrong with wanting or desiring good things, infact, it is totally normal to be happy and celebrate what you have received. (The video version of this post can be seen on this link Moilluminations – YouTube

Givers are a major part of the two-way cycle of giving and receiving, so where there are no Givers, some Receivers wouldn’t have what to celebrate or be happy over. But this part of the cycle is most often ignored, and maybe that is why there are often less to go round. Imagine if every receiver was giving out something, I bet you the Givers part of the scale would definitely rise. This is simple mathematics!

Be generous with the resources you have been blessed with, it doesn’t have to be a physical object or a material gift, your resources could be your time, or your valuable insight or thoughts on a situation. Going about life just expecting to receive, without considering what you can do in the giving/receiving equation, would not auger well for you and maybe every other person that would have benefitted from what you have that you can give out or share.

Whilst some may think that giving reduces their resources, on a closer look we may find out that this does not apply in every situation. If you are naturally gifted with certain attributes like being a good leader, listener, communicator etc., contributing this unique attribute in any worthy cause does not diminish or reduce what you have. I am focusing on “giving” in terms of giving non-material things, because the discussion on giving has always been centred on the material things.

Every person has something to give, while you are lacking material gifts, you may have the non-material ones that you can give. So do not make the mistake of excusing yourself from the “giving” discussion. You have something to give, only look inwards and find out something worthwhile that you can give.

Another aspect of receiving is being grateful. Nobody is under a compulsion to you anything, so learn to show appreciation to your benefactors. Don’t downplay any gift you’ve received, no matter how small it may look to you. That gift simply means that someone devoted even if it’s a minute of their time to think about you or what is important to you, and that is why you have received that gift. So, develop a thankful posture for every gift you receive. You may express your thanks by paying such favour forward.

Have a blessed week!
