Your Reactions/Actions?

fire, matchstick house, burning matchstick house

Breathe in and breath out.

Sometimes, we need to do this as many times as possible to clear our heads, and prevent ourselves from making rash decisions, especially, during emotionally-charged moments.

Choosing to take a calmer approach may not be your forte, but it’s always the wisest thing to do when in a charged atmosphere. It is natural to react when you are angry, sad, or generally confused about other people’s responses to you, but, you are still expected to do so within reasonable boundaries. So, it’s not an excuse to say I was pushed to the wall, that’s why I did this or that; you are expected to keep your emotions in check and act in a socially acceptable way.

If you want to be accepted in any civilized society, you have to abide by the unwritten rules of that society. There are character traits that when displayed earns you either the respect of your community, or makes you the scorn of the society. Always choose to be rational. No matter how pushed, you can never go wrong when you are rational.

Another thing to note is that while your offender may be wrong, if you respond to your offender and he/she comes out having more injuries, be it physical or emotional than you suffered, the pendulum may swing immediately to favour your offender. Always remember this, some people may not be patient to know how the misunderstanding started, and how you are the offended one.

If you are ever interested in maintaining a relationship, be wise in your reactions when offended, do not throw away the baby with the bathing water. Always think of tomorrow.

Build your relationships with people, be tolerant, be rationale with your reactions/actions when offended. Also, know when to address issues that if left unaddressed today, may lead to an unwelcome result in the future.

Have a good week!
